Today:
The Blue-fronted Amazon
As you might guess from the name, the Blue-fronted Amazon comes from South America, more specifically from the Amazon region. These birds are native to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. They are a species of Amazon parrot. Along with the African grey parrot, the Blue-fronted Amazon is one of the most commonly kept parrot species in captivity. Like the African grey parrot, it is capable of imitating human speech, which has contributed significantly to its popularity as a pet bird.
Both in the wild and in captive Blue-fronted Amazons, there is considerable variability in body size and weight. Individuals weigh between 400 and 660 grams, and the body length is between 33 and 36 centimeters. Females and males are indistinguishable by their plumage, although females tend to be slightly smaller. The length of the strong gray beak varies between 2.9 and 3.3 centimeters. The tail is between 11 and 14 centimeters long.
